UWAI is founded by two of Australia’s most successful China entrepreneurs, Simon Henry and Andrew Taylor. The pair are the only foreigners to have ever created a successful Chinese brand reaching millions of high net worth Chinese globetrotters. The data insights created are the foundation for defining the four key drivers of Chinese high net worth consumers globally. These are: investment, education, immigration and lifestyle. Each of these drivers are all dependent on international tourism. For the past 6 years, the founders have influenced global markets with their focus on destination marketing.

Simon and Andrew have spoken at the Global Cafe at the G20, presented to the full Foreign Investment Review Board in Australia as well as being the only foreign guest speakers at the Boao Forum for Asia in China. They have been keynote speakers at global industry events and appeared in and on global publications and networks including the New York Times, The Financial Times, The Australian Financial Review, the Australian, BBC, CNBC and the ABC Australia.

The Founders have built, grown and successfully exited a China startup. They have lead the way for other entrepreneurs to engage with this impressive global opportunity. They are now tackling a market that impacts nearly every economy in the world: outbound Chinese tourism.

In 2016 Chinese spent USD$220 billion whilst travelling overseas, and this amount is predicted to increase to USD$450 billion in less than seven years.. By 2034, the total number of outbound tourists from China is expected to hit 800 million per year. Ensuring Chinese tourists feel welcomed and have a memorable time translates into more jobs, more investment education exports and more product evangelists for local businesses.

All entrepreneurs want to change the world, and UWAI is no different. We have designed every aspect from the ground up to create a winning combination for Chinese tourists and local businesses alike. The team are experts in their fields, living in 7 countries and yet part of the UWAI community.

Our goals for UWAI are threefold: ensure Chinese tourists have such a memorable experience whilst abroad that they go back again and again; ensure local businesses are more welcoming and accommodating to Chinese tourists (which should result in increased profits); and most importantly, to provide new and valuable insights to industry and governments in order to grow this market long term.
