Adelaide celebrates with 1 million international tourists
Adelaide airport has hit the one million international passengers milestone for the first time. The Chinese visitors market has been the biggest contributors to the increase of this figure. An additional 11,000 visitors arriving over the past year. With the announcement of China Southern increasing flights between Guangzhou and Adelaide from three flights up to five to seven during peak times. With a seat increase from 651 currently to 1,974 which is likely to increase Chinese visitors to our state.
Chinese travellers increase spend
New data shows that younger international visitors into Australia has increased by an impressive 8% to 8.3 billion since last year. With more visitors, brings more spend. A strong increase in total spend of 6% to $42.3 billion which was driven largely by the growth from China. China alone has accounted for 52% of the total international spend growth, resulting in an increase of $1.3 billion.
