The Dromedary Hotel
About Us
The Dromedary Hotel fondly known by locals as the 'Drom' sits at the base of Gulaga Mountain in the main street of Central Tilba. This landmark heritage listed building was one of the first built to service the local workers who flocked to the region when gold was discovered nearby. Built in 1895 as 'The Coffee Palace', it became the 'Palace Hotel' in 1896 and renamed to the Dromedary Hotel in 1946. Offering great homemade meals accompanied with a selection of beers, wine and hot beverages the 'Drom' is a great place to sit back and take in the history of this National Trust classified village. The second you walk inside you know you've walked back in time with period furniture strewn around, the old fireplaces still operating to warm weary travellers in the winter and of course, the bar - a place where you can reminisce with staff and locals about the good old days.
