Sydney Observatory
About Us
Sydney Observatory occupies a beautiful heritage-listed sandstone building in the heart of The Rocks. Beginning with Aboriginal astronomy, take a close look at the amazing exhibitions before climbing up into the famous telescope domes and exploring the sky with experienced guides. At night, you could see stars, planets in the solar system, the Moon or even nebulae that are light years away. By day you can observe the active Sun with special lenses. Afterwards explore the Universe in their 3-D Space Theatre or step under the dome of Sydney Planetarium for a tour of the Southern Sky and see captivating films about astronomy, the history of space flight and much more. Don't miss the time ball dropping at 1pm everyday.
