Cactus Beach
About Us
Experienced surfers from all over Australia and overseas congregate at the iconic surf mecca of Cactus to test their skills on two left hand breaks and one right hander. This is where they can experience the freedom of surfing in natural unspoilt surroundings. Winter time, with its big swells gives big waves, but surfers pick their times because of dangerous rips and stormy conditions. Situated 21 kilometres south of Penong along the road to Point Sinclair is this highly acclaimed surfing beach. Cactus has three perfect surfing breaks, "Castles" and "Cactus" both left handers and "Caves", a powerful right-hand break. Although the surrounding land is private property, the owner permits camping in a natural environment. Toilets and bore water showers are provided, and firewood is supplied nightly.
