Altair is a continuation of a 21-year-old Aboriginal family owned business called 'Koorie Connections' who were honoured in receiving a number of highly regarded business awards and commendations for the promotion of Aboriginal art within the State of Victoria. Altair has now moved its operations from the Melbourne CBD to a 200 Square meter state of the art gallery facility overlooking the Wyndham Harbour and Port Phillip Bay. This new gallery space provides not only a superb backdrop to its art and craft offerings, but also a high-class facility that is available for hire to hold either high end corporate or private special events. The curator, Daniel Peers, has taken over the operations of the business that exclusively works on fair trade basis, supporting Aboriginal artists and their communities through its pricing structures that are extremely competitive. This makes original works more accessible to more people, allowing them to become custodians of some of world’s oldest art dating back to between 40 and 50 thousand years.
