Poets Drive
About Us
Inspired by Gunnedah's iconic landmarks and local heroes - travel the Poets Drive around Gunnedah and explore the essence of bush life and the challenges and adventures of rural Australia. Spot the 17 poems mounted on plaques at various locations around town and take time to stop and read each poem. Be sure to stop off at the 'Lyrical Loos' at Wolseley Park, the unofficial finish of the Poets Drive, for something quite unusual. Within the amenities block, poetry is etched into the back of the toilet doors and poetry is recited throughout the building via a loop recording. A brochure will be available from the Gunnedah Visitors Centre to follow the drive. A number of the poem's on the drive have had to be repositioned due to sun damage. Call into the Gunnedah Visitors Centre for a copy and all the up-to-date details.
