About Us

Orchard Cottages consist of two delightful self contained cottages in a garden setting in the old part of town - peaceful and secure with no passing traffic. The cottages are built on the site of Port Fairy's first pub, and bottles, coins and other artefacts are still occasionally dug up in the garden. Wildlife is also in abundance with many species of birds and occasional visits from echidnas, wallabies, lizards and other native animals. Each sleeping four guests, the cottages were built in 2000 from recycled timbers. They have well equipped kitchens, washing machines, wood heating and off-street parking. Some furniture is purpose made, some antique. The cottages also include books, games and original artworks - paintings, photographs, indigenous pieces. While offering great privacy, the cottages are only five to ten minutes' walk to the town centre, beaches, parks, swimming pool, history centre, galleries and the mutton bird rookeries on Griffith Island. The river and historic wharf are just across the road. There is cycling too with bike tracks nearby, wide streets and flat terrain. Both cottages have open plan living areas and are family friendly. Owners, Paul and Sasha, live on site in at the front of the block.
